Work in Progress

Baseball, Seminary, Wrestling, and the Dreams and Days of one Mike Work's Angeles experience

Five nails hammered, excess paint scraped, milk in the fridge, and the house becomes our home as I type. Now if we could only get water pressure in the shower (there's the matter of a curtain, both for the shower and my back window, but I kind of like the open-air effect).

How else did Mike Work spend the day? Doing some work on note transcription/prepping the Systematics manuscript, taking the shelves back to the old place/making a last run-through, and hanging out at Gilmore's for six in the PM. About nine people there throughout the day, burgers/brats, chips, beverages, ballgames, UHF/MST3K, good times.

Summation of the last few days? Moving.
Phase 3 currently in progress, very close to being in, but I need to get the screws to set up my desk (left them in Jamie's car)
What is left to do? Misc. knick-knacks needed (this is where I realize how well mom knows this stuff, and how well she set me up in September; MIKE, TAKE NOTES!), a grocery run to pull milk, eggs, bread, and non-staples, and set up curtains for clothing compartments (as I do laundry, they fill up).
In the interim, I came across Tyler's blog, and while I would enjoy spending time perusing it, it is week 10, and writing has yet to commence. The next two days? Bunker down.

Musings from last night:
Were John Cobb and David Ray Griffin to attend karaoke night at Eagle Rock Lanes, they'd convert to Catholicism within a week.
(Unless they saw the amazing Jessie Concklin perform)

There's this quote from Albert Camus that's been kicking my ass for the past three weeks or so, and really communicates many of my sentiments from the past year or so. In my opinion, every seminarian should see it at some time, and it wouldn't be of little use for others, either:

"Too many people climb onto the cross only in order to be seen from a further distance, and in doing so trample the one who was there long before them."
The Fall 114; may be off by a page or five, as may be a few words, as this is off the brain.
so it's wednesday, 6p, and 5 page summation of Schleiermacher is due in 14. Amount written? 0%
am i stressed? well, not really.

more or less, looking for someone to go book shopping with me and not consider it some major event/breakthrough opportunity
the fun of figuring out where one stands with people, and how they view relationships...
conversation as contest, confrontation, or collaboration...that says a lot.
mw, signing off

I can't stand study groups, but I'm a huge fan of working circles.
A distinction worth making.
